It Pays to Read!!!

Hobble Creek PTA gave the school a challenge to read 276,000 minutes which the students met and exceeded.  Students read over 330,000 minutes.  The award assembly featured vip guests: Miss Springville, Zach Griffin a player on the National para-basketball team, cheerleaders and basketball players from Maple Mountain and Springville High School, and Screech.  Students and their appointed helpers shot baskets to earn cash.  Prizes from water bottles, books, posters, t-shirts to Kindle Fires were handed out to students by drawing their names from their reading minutes.

Thanks to a grant from the Utah Division of Art and Museums, Serena Kanig Benish worked with the third and fifth grade classes to produce the opera "A Whole Lot of Something Going On" They opera were performed today for parents.  The opera helped students learn the state music core curriculum in music.

Hobble Creek District Debate Winners

Hobble Creek Elementary Hosted the Nebo District Elementary Debate.  100 students from Hobble Creek, Mapleton Elementary, Salem Elementary, and Brockbank Elementary debated the resolution: Utah government should provide an incentive or tax credit to businesses who give their employees a public transit pass.

Hobble Creek Choir has been rehearsing before school under the direction of Karen Thueson.  They performed for the student body on Tuesday afternoon and will perform Wednesday night at 7:00.

The Opera performance under the direction of our art project artist, opera singer Serena Kanig Benish, will be performed on March 27 .  The fifth grade opera will be at 1:15 and the 3rd grade opera will be at 2:15.
