Brandi Wayment has been awarded Hobble Creek Elementary School’s Crystal Apple Teacher for 2014-15. Brandi is in her 17th year of teaching. She taught nine years in California and eight years in 1st grade at Hobble Creek. Brandi’s passion has always been early childhood literacy and teaching mathematics. Her husband Tom says, “I think all of my siblings and Brandi’s have had the lecture that their children need to have 10,000 books read to them before they enter kindergarten.”
Brandi is super organized and pays careful attention to details. If she says she’ll do something, then she’ll make sure it gets done and she always gives it her all. Brandi doesn’t do things half-heartedly! Brandi’s greatest sense of satisfaction comes when she sees a notable or measurable difference in one of her students. At Hobble Creek, Brandi is always willing to serve on committees and share her knowledge or resources when needed. She organized a faculty book club and keeps us learning new things! When she’s not teaching, Brandi loves to quilt, travel, read a book at the beach, do photography, and garden. She has traveled to England, Poland, Germany, Italy, and Turkey in the past few years as well as seeing most of the 50 states.
We are glad Brandi chooses to teach at Hobble Creek and hope she’ll stay for the foreseeable future!
