We had a very successful Chess Tournament at Art City Elementary this last Saturday. Twenty Five of our Elementary Schools were represented.  Hobble Creek students won the 2nd place trophyOn February 13 will be the Nebo School District Chess Tournament, held for Elementary, Junior High and High School Students at Cherry Creek Elementary in Springville.The Early Registration deadline is this Saturday the 30th of January .

Chess Tournament for ElementaryJr. High, and High School

Saturday February 13, 2016    8:30 am - 2:30 pm approximately

Please enter through east doors.

  • Check in by 8:30 am, instructions at 8:45 am.

  • 6 rounds—all students get to play all rounds.

  • Grades K-9th –K-6 students get to play others within their own grade.  Grades 7-9 will be grouped together into one section.

Grades 10-12 will be grouped together into one section.

  • Rounds are up to 50 minutes each (i.e. approximately 25 minutes per player).  Some grades may finish sooner.  Grades 10-12 will play 5 rounds up to 60 minutes each.

  • Trophies will be awarded for 1st -10th place per section, and for top 5 elementary schools and top 3 secondary schools.  All other players will receive a medal.

  • Tie breaks will be decided by the computer.

  • Information available for those interested in starting a chess club.

 

Lunch will be available for purchase: pizza $1, drinks $.50, snacks, etc.

Chess sets, chess software, and chess books available for purchase.

Cost is $9.00 if you register and pay by Feb. 3, or $15 thereafter

Registrations accepted only through Thursday, Feb 11

no registration or payment accepted at the door.

Student must be in Nebo School District boundaries, whether attending public, charter, or home school.

Supervision of children is the responsibility of the parents.  Parents and other spectators may not interact with players while they are competing.
