Mrs. Maxine Bartholomew is retiring at the end of the school year next month. She is one of the veterans at Hobble Creek and she will be missed! This is what she said about her long career as a teacher. "I have worked in Nebo School District for 32 years. I started my teaching career at Park Elementary in Spanish Fork. I taught fourth grade there for 18 years. I then transferred to Hobble Creek Elementary in 2003, the year it opened, and I have been teaching fourth grade here since. I did my student teaching in kindergarten and first grade, but I was then hired to teach fourth grade. It actually scared me to death to start teaching in fourth grade because I had done all of my practicum studies in the lower grades. However, I soon found that I loved the upper grades and especially teaching Utah History. I was lucky enough to have the privilege to stay in fourth grade my entire career. Time has really flown.

I think the students through the years have taught me more than I was ever able to teach them! I have enjoyed their sweet spirits and enthusiasm to learn. They have been a joy in my life along with my family.

My husband and I have 3 boys and two daughters-in- law that just joined our family in the past 10 months. My family is starting to grow, and now I am not totally outnumbered by all my boys. I am excited for the next phase of my life. I’m not sure what all that will be, but I am looking forward to some free time and restarting hobbies I haven’t had time for. I also want to do a lot of camping, hunting, fishing, and becoming an awesome grandma someday! I will miss my Hobble Creek Family. Thank you for 14 years of support and enjoyment!!"

Mrs. B likes the color turquoise blue, the book Where the Red Fern Grows and Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles, Basketball and Halibut fish n chips. Her favorite cake is mashed banana nut cake, she loves to water ski, dance to the song I Cross My Heart by George Strait, spend a lot of time at the family cabin and loves telling stories about her camping and hunting trips to her class.
