White Ribbon Week-January 17-20, 2017

Thank you to Michelle Anderson and the others on her white ribbon week board at Hobble Creek Elementary. We have had a really great White Ribbon Week. This week was centered around making smart choices on the internet and with media. The theme is, "It's up to me on how I spend my time." We focused on how students can become aware of the amount of time they spend each day in front of a screen and the dangers to be aware of. All students signed their names on a large banner Tuesday and wrote down ideas of things they could do instead of being in front of media. The students were incouraged to have a 24 hour media fast. There was a dress up day to wear their favorite sports team jersey. Each day they earned tickets for a prize drawing. This drawing will be held at the end of the school day today for prizes centering on things kids can do instead of being in front of a screen. Ask your kids what they learned and how your family can incorporate the theme into your lives.
