Monday, January 16, 2023, marks the 37th anniversary of the federal holiday in honor of Rev. Martin Luther King’s birthday. Signed into law in 1983 and first observed in 1986, the holiday is a tribute to King for advancing civil rights and social justice through non-violent protest. His was only the second birthday designated as a federal holiday after the observance of George Washington’s birthday.

Graham Tobler won Novembers Safe Route Utah Walk & Roll Challenge. Students who walk or bike to school can track their days and then put in each month for a prize. Walking and riding bikes to school have such great benefits. We love to see students getting outside!

Mr. Sorensen went around to classrooms and read Christmas stories to the children. The students loved having him come in and read to them! Thanks Mr. Sorensen.
The 5th grade graduated from the NOVA program. Students had the opportunity to learn about the NOVA principles and other life skills to help them grow as students and citizens of our community. Officer Wolfgram, along with other Mapleton officers, congratulated students on their graduation and helped them celebrate their achievements.
Thank you so much to Mapleton Junior High Orchestra and Band for coming and performing. They did a great job performing Christmas songs. It put us right in the holiday spirit!
