Hobble Creek Elementary has provided some great software products to help early readers. The two most frequently used are Waterford and SuccessMaker software programs at our school. These awesome Kindergarten students just finished a year on Waterford. They log on everyday for 15 minutes a day. We are so proud of their hard work! Great job Hawks.
Our school was treated to a special performance today by our very own Hobble Creek Orchestra taught and conducted by Mrs. Jessica Knight. The musicians are Sarah Warren, Jocelyn Brown, Jordan Jenkins, Porter Harrison, Alta Crane, and Cash Jensen.
Our students have worked very hard to learn how to play their instruments this year and did a great job performing. Thank you Mrs. Knight for all your hard work and talent teaching the many beginning musicians in our community.
Hobble Creek Elementary was treated to an awesome assembly Tuesday by BYU. The dancers performed movements based on a story that was read by a young boy who enjoyed a make believe world for a day. Thank you BYU for all the great learning opportunities you provide to our community!
Karen Warren, our assistant secretary here at Hobble Creek, was awarded the Classified Employee of the Year award May 15, 2017
Karen was born and raised in Springville. Her parents are Clyde and Kathleen Gabbitas. After graduating from Springville High School Karen started working at Central Bank and then in 1992 she married Ryan Warren. They lived in Springville for 6 years until 1998 when they moved to Mapleton.
Amanda Flake is the current music specialist, and next year she will teach 1st grade. She said, “I love all types of music, so it made me happy to teach music every day, but my favorite part of my job was getting to know every student in the school. I will really miss being the music specialist, but I am excited to teach 1st grade because I love the magic that comes with teaching young children. My favorite part of teaching is thinking of ways to make things more fun and active. I think 1st grade will be a good fit for me.” Mrs.

Two teams from Hobble Creek Elementary participated in the State Debate Tournament on April 21, 2017 at Alta High School. Nicole Cragun and Anna Sneddon debated the affirmative case. Elizabeth Lowe and Max Smith debated the negative case. Both teams did really well, Max and Elizabeth won 1st Place at state!
We would like to extend a special thank you to Rachel Peay for organizing and teaching debate as a dedicated parent volunteer this year. We so appreciate all the efforts of our parent volunteers here at Hobble Creek and the difference they make in our students lives.
Today we are spot lighting our Hobble Creek 6th grade team. Every student at Hobble Creek looks forward to their 6th grade year and the teacher they will get. Since all the teachers are equally fantastic it is never a dissappointment and all 6th graders enjoy being king of the hill so to speak! This being said, we are so sad to say good bye to Mrs. Snow, Mrs. Nissen and Mrs. Smith. Each are being taken in different directions next year and they will be missed. Mrs. Corfield will be staying! Yay!! Here are some interesting fact on all of them.
