Six Hobble Creek 5th grade students participated in the Utah Elementary State Debate.  James Chamberlain, Joseph Asay, Alexis Call, Hanna Muzquis, Olivia Smith, Alexi Corfield.  

James Chamberlain received a speaker award.  Alexi Corfield and Olivia Smith won fifth place negative medals.

Mapleton City and Hobble Creek 4th grade students celebrated Arbor Day by planting a tree.  The students entered the Arbor Day Poster Contest by illustrating the theme; Trees are Terrific from Mountain Peaks to Desert Valleys.  The school winner of the contest is Lauren Watson. Hal Black and Orpha Dee Johnson told stories to the students about the importance of trees.  Students helped plant the tree.

Fourth Grade Student Musical April 24 10:30 Hawks Nest

Mrs. Day will direct fourth grade students in the musical, "Flute Drum , Guitar with orginal music composed by Aaron Webb.  The story shows how all the elements of music work together to make magic.  Thanks to Cynthia Hart for vocal assistance and Rowdee Barker, Madi Henderson for technical assistance. 

First Grade Students Work With Ceramic Artist Sheri Gibb

Thanks to a grant from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the National Endowment for the Arts, Hobble Creek First Grade Students are making bugs out of clay under the direction of ceramic artist Sheri Gibb.  The finished bugs will be exhibited on May 16.

Earth Art Exhibit

5th Grade Students working with visual artist, Diane Asay

This art project was made possible by a grant from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the National Endowment for the Arts.

This is the third year of an Art Project designed to connect Hobble Creek Elementary to the community through the arts. 

2011-2012 Repertoy Dance Theatre worked with 4th and 2nd grades

2012-2013 Lora Schmidt, storyteller worked with 3rd grade.  John Schaefer photographer, worked with 6th grade.

2013-2014 Diane Asay, visual artist works with 5th grade. Sheri Gibb, ceramics arts works with 1st grade. April 21-May 16 2013

This week, fifth grade students are working with visual artist, Diane Asay, thanks to a grant from the Utah Division of Arts &  Museums & the National Endowment for the Arts.

 

 

 

Hobble Creek Art Project Artist Diane Asay Works with 5th Grade Students

Monday April 14-Friday April 18 Hobble Creek fifth grade classes will be creating "Earth Art"  with artist Diane Asay. There will be an exhibit of the art on Friday April 18 at 2:00-3:30 in conjunction with the 5th grade Maturation program.  The art project is possible due to a grant from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the National Endowment for the arts.

Diane Asay has taught in the Art Education Department at Brigham Young University for over 20 years. She has her own publishing company, Art Visuals, that produces art-related teaching aids for public schools. She has produced timelines on both world and American art, as well as sets of posters on Modern and Postmodern art, women and African-American artists, and the cultures of Africa, China, Japan, India and the Islam. Her latest publication is a set on Latino and Latin American art and culture. When she has time, she loves to do watercolor paintings, dabble with pastels, and create stained glass works.
