The sixth grade took advantage of the warm spring afternoon to create chalk circles on the playground.  They used their math skills to calculate the circumference and area of the circles.  They were rewarded with a pie!

As part of the science unit on accoustics sixth grade students have made instruments from card board, pvc, bucketts and more.  They have created a band with their instruments, composed a song, and written lyrics.  The songs will be performed in the Battle of the Bands on Friday afternoon March 8.

Miss Huyett's 5th grade class put on a talent show to raise money for Global Outreach Alliance (GOA), a non-profit organization that helps people in Africa.  Some of GOA's projects include:  scholarships for education, school building, house building, well building, and cow breeding.  The students will split the money raised among their favorite projects.  The students conducted research about the GOA projects, made survival bracelets, developed a talent to share, and were the emcee's for the talent show.  They will also be writing persuasive letters to local businesses and prominent people to raise more funds. 

Last year Miss Huyett's 4th grade calss raised $2498 for Charity Water, providing 125 people in Ethiopia, Tanzania, India, and Nepal with clean water.  They learned that together we can make a difference in the world. 

One of the students was heard saying, " I don't want it to end.  I like doing this. 

Blue Hair was sprouting and bopping up and down as students transformed into Dr. Seuss' Thing One and Thing Two.

Emme Smith, Kelsey Corefield, Gabi Smith and Andrew Thomson were winners at the Nebo School District Science Fair.  They will advance to the Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair at BYU on March 20. 

Fifth grade students became wax figures on Friday February 22.  The students portrayed famous Americans.  The museum was organized by states filling up the fifth grade class rooms and the book fair commons.  Each student exhibit had a push botton that prompted an introduction of the famous American.

Hobble Creek chess players won second place overall at the Nebo School District Chess Tournament on Saturday February 9, 2013.   Chess club took place on Thursdays after school during the five weeks before the district tournament.   The State Elementary tournament will be on March 9 at the University of Utah.
