Kindergarten students were visited by a fire fighter.  They were told about avoiding fires, not playing with matches.   If you are in a fire you should crawl to saftey to avoid breathing smoke.  If fire is on you: stop, drop and roll.  He told the students that fire fighters are your friend and you should run to them not away from them.  He demonstrated how he can dress in his protective clothes very quickly.

Hobble Creek Field Trip to Diamond Fork

Submitted by carol.day on

Hobble Creek fourth grade students went on a field trip to Diamond Fork Creek to learn about the plants, animals, and water of our area.  They put on hip waders and used nets to look for bugs and fish in the river.  They tested the ph level of the water.  They used binoculars to observe birds and leaves on tree.  They went on a plant identification treasure hunt.  They learned about Utah animals from touching pelts, horns, antlers and beaks. It was a beautiful fall day and the forest service instructors gave them a hands-on opportunity to learn about their natural habitat.

Student  Neighborhood Access ProgramThere is growing concern about the safety of children who walk or bike to school. Fewer children walking and biking to school today has resulted in increased traffic congestion around schools and decreased the number of healthy activities children participate in.   The Student Neighborhood Access Program (SNAP)™ provides tools and resources to assist in the planning, education and encouragement of students safely walking and biking to school based on goals set by the federal Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program.  Friday September 19 Hobble Creek had an assembly from SNAP a, a program associated with the Utah Department of Transportation.  The group talked about traveling to and from school safely.    There is a map on this website for the safe route to school.  It is under the School Community Council page at the bottom.
