 Hobble Creek Elementary's STUDENTS OF THE WEEK on Friday, May 24, 2013:  Will Davis, Andelin Barlow, Janae Scott, Miles Browne, Rie Ann Briggs, Annabeth Templeman, Ruby Jensen, Maggie Ribble, Joe Hickey, Steven Goodrich, Porter Fairbourne, Abby Garrett, Abbie Cannon, Clayton Dean, Savannah Dixon, Dillon Flinders, and Ethan Polgar.

Hobble Creek sixth grade students have been "drawing with light"  and learning how to make use of the whole frame.   Photographer John Schaefer has been showing the students a new way of seeing and use of mapmaking software during April and May.

    This project is part of a Green Map art project made possible by a grant from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The afternoon kindergarten students were all dressed up and lined up for their graduation to first grade. 

 Hobble Creek Elementary's STUDENTS OF THE WEEK onFriday, May 17,  2013:  John McClellan, Devry Henderson, Nathan Wolfgramm, Lydia Gore, Weston LeBaron, McKae Jones, Braxton Wright, Kellan Brooke, Porter Stevens, Ella Conners, Brianna Hardy, Sage Loveland, Laura Jensen, Alli Johansen, Baylie Bohl, Nicole Noorda, Declan Anderson, Alec Porter, Ethan Lawrence, and Emma Templeman.

Hobble Creek students were dazzled by the color and excitment of the BYU Folk Dance Assembly.   The Dancers taught about rhythm and tradition explaining instruments like the East Indian Sapp, the Canadian wooden spoons, Philipino bamboo sticks, and bones.  They brought dances that showed traditions from India, Quebec, USA, Columbia, Belarus, Ireland,Wales, the Ukraine and more. 

The culminating activity for the medieval unit of study was a festival showcase.  Students have been working on projects which were displayed in the morning.  The students and teachers dressed in period costumes.  Mrs Hollenback, the music teacher helped each class create a play, puppet play, dance or song to share.  The day ended with some tasty gruel!

Sixth Grade students in the before school orchestra joined sixth grade students from Mapleton Elementary for a concert showcasing their progress as musicians this school year.  The director is Mrs. Jessica Knight.  The concert included 16 songs in styles ranging from classical to folk, jazz and boogie.   A guest banjo player accompained the orchestra as well as Hobble Creek Student Asher Hunt on the beat box.
