Peggy Giles selected as Hobble Creek Elementary Outstanding Classified Employee of the Year

                Hobble Creek’s Outstanding Classified Employee of the year is Peggy Giles.  Peggy has been the Food Service Manager at Hobble Creek Elementary since the school opened eight years ago.  Before that she was the Food Service Manager at Mapleton Elementary. Peggy has been employed by the district for 28 years. The award was presented by Craig Harvey and is sponsored by Horace Mann Insurance.  Peggy was nominated by the faculty at Hobble Creek.

            Peggy is a true professional, always has a positive attitude, and solves problems with a smile. She will do anything within her ability to help you with your needs and she is extremely easy to approach.   Peggy loves to golf.  She has three children and eleven grandchildren. Peggy lives in Mapleton with her husband David.  Congratulations Peggy!

McKay Kriser receives an Honorable Mention Award

Congratulation to McKay Kriser for receiving an Honorable Mention Award at the district science fair!  He will now go on to compete in the Central Utah Science and Engineering Fair to be held at BYU March 23.  His project has to do with optimizing a linear magnetic accelerator and is entitled The Attraction Reaction.  Good Luck McKay!

Crystal Apple Award

The Crystal Apple Award is sponsored by Horace Mann Insurance and the Nebo Education Association, and is given annually.  Oustanding teachers are nominated by their peers to receive this award.  This year's Crystal Apple Award goes to 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Michael-Ann McAfee and was presented by Mr. Craig Harvey of Horace Mann Insurance.

Michael-Ann was raised in California.  She attended Brigham Young University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and has been an educator for 19 years.  She taught three years in Alpine School District.  She taught for two years in Alabama while her husband attended graduate school at the University of Alabama.  She has taught for the past 14 years in the Nebo School District at Santaquin Elementary, Brookside Elementary, and for the past eight years at Hobble Creek Elementary.  Michale-Ann recently finished her Masters of Educational Leadership Degree at Brigham Young University.

Michael-Ann is a kind and loving teacher who is dedicated to her students.  She is always trying new ideas and lessons to help them further their education and life skills.

Michael-Ann is married to Chris McAfee and has two sons and one daughter.  She resides in Springville, Utah.  Congratulations Michael-Ann!
