Our own Ms. Johnson recently received the PTA Excellence in Service award.  Tami Johnson was hired in 2005 at Hobble Creek Elementary and taught first grade for 12 years, and has taught fourth grade nearly 4 years.  Here are some of the things her fellow teachers and coworkers have to say about her:

“Tami Johnson has so many great qualities, the list could go on and on. She is there for anyone who needs help at the drop of a hat. She has a super pleasant personality which puts others at ease when she offers solutions to problems that arise. We feel she is a great friend and listener.”

“She has a love for learning and shares this enthusiasm with her students.  She is the heartbeat that we all need more of- acceptance, love, caring, and understanding. She feels very safe to be with. We cherish her and adore her!!!! Tami is the go to person for everything. Need a treat for the staff? No one makes cupcakes like Tami. Have a computer problem? Tami will fix it. Chromebook issue? Take it to Miss Johnson. Tami is the kindest person I know. Tami cares about her students and will bend over backwards to help someone be successful...her touch is all around the school - cupcakes in the lunch room, vinyl sign in the workroom, bulletin board outside the office."

“She is always willing to help in any way she can. Tami is such a kind person and has such a loving personality. Tami is the heart of Hobble Creek. She stays late to help, she uses her planning time to help others, she comes early to help, and she comes in over the summer to help. Tami is a dedicated teacher to her students and goes above and beyond to make sure every student in her class feels welcome and loved by her.”

Congratulations to Ms. Johnson on this much deserved award!

Mountain Man Visit to the 4th Grade

Submitted by tori.bennett on

Scott Grizzly Sorensen (4th grader Zack Jensen’s grandpa) came to visit the 4th grade to show us pictures and animal skins and mountain men gear. He also told us stories of the trappers and mountain men that lived and came through Utah. The 4th graders loved to hear the Tall Tales and true stories. Listening to the animals calls and being able to feel the pelts was an awesome experience. He even made sure that our school library had his books! The kids were racing to check them out!!

“Holy Guacamole, our teachers are the best!”

Submitted by tori.bennett on

Our PTA has spent a very busy week recognizing and celebrating our amazing teachers and staff at Hobble Creek.  We were so spoiled throughout the week and we are so grateful!

On Monday the teachers were treated to delicious fruit parfaits for breakfast. Tuesday was chips and salsa followed by a full lunch on Wednesday provided by La Casita and a delicious dessert from the PTA. During this special lunch, the PTA arranged for room parents to take the classes so teachers could enjoy a little longer lunch.  During that lunch, students put together a “taco full” of notes of appreciation for their teachers.  As if that wasn’t enough, Thursday we were treated to Tres Leches Cake and Friday the teachers and staff received a treat and gift cards donated by Sodalicious and Chick-fil-A.  What an amazing recognition for the teachers and staff at Hobble Creek!

A huge thank you to our PTA for all their hard work.  Big thanks to the PTA Teacher Appreciation Committee: Jen Bird, Amber Leck, Meghan Sonnenberg, Samantha Duncan, Hailey Peterson, Emily Jensen, Laura van der Horst and Mary Fisher.

Thank you to the awesome community businesses that support Hobble Creek Elementary:  La Casita, Sodalicious and Chick-fil-A.

Thanks for an awesome Teacher Appreciation Week!

Mrs. Brunt's  3rd Grade class completed a beautiful mural just in time for Earth Day on April 22, 2021. Along with the art work, they included some fun facts about this planet we live on.  What a cool display for our entire school to enjoy!
