Thanks to funding from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the National Endowment for the Arts, Serena Kanig Benish, UVU voice professor and opera diva will be working with the third and fifth grades on an opera. Serena brought some of her UVU students to Hobble Creek to introduce them to opera. The assembly showed the students a wide range of voices from baritone to soprano as well as finding the story from the music even when it was in Italian or French.
Serena will be working at Hobble Creek in March. The students will perform an opera called " A Whole Lot of Something Going On" on March 27 at 2:15.
