We have terrific teachers here at Hobble Creek. This week we are spot lighting the 5th grade team. We are sad to announce that Ms. Sant will be retiring at the end of the school year and wish her the very best in wherever her new path takes her. Make sure to say hi over the next few months, she has had a big impact as a facilitator and teacher at our school over the last 14 years. She has received many awards over her many years as a teacher. Her favorite sport is football, she loves German chocolate cake and popcorn. She loves to laugh, read and watch movies. She especially loves spending time with her family and traveling to see them. She may go on a cruise to Alaska this summer. We hope you do! Enjoy

Mrs. Wayment has also put in many years as a teacher and has taught other grades in addition to 5th. She loves the color Red, the book To kill a Mockingbird, and chocolate. She loves football and Italian food. She travels a lot with her husband and family in the summer and looks forward to relaxing on the beach. She can wiggle her eyeballs, wants to learn how to knit a snowhat and would love a self cleaning house. (wouldn't we all)

Mrs. Wilson has taught at our school 2 years and recently was awarded the Daily Herald "Educator of the Week" award. She is from Kansas City, MO and loves watching baseball especially the Royals and BYU football. Her favorite color is Pink and her favorite book is Frindle by Andrew Clements. She likes chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, Diet Coke and Reeses's peanut butter cups. She enjoys baking and cooking, watching movies and reading. She is going to MO this summer to watchs some Royals games and visit family. She hopes to finally catch a foul ball at a game. (Good luck!)

Ms. Johnson has also taught at our school for 3 years and loves teaching. She is from Gilbert, AZ and graduated from BYU. She loves basketball, badminton, tennis and football. She loves the colors pink, navy and eating chocolate.  She hopes to go to the beach this summer and read a lot of books. She especially loves this time of year to quilt and enjoy the wonderful weather. We are lucky to have her here at Hobble Creek. She is always happy and has a fun, spunky personality.

Mr. Littlefield has been at Hobble Creek Elementary since it opened over 14 years ago and has loved every minute of it. Everyone at Hobble Creek loves Mr. Littlefield and he will be sorely missed. Mr. Littlefield enjoys camping in his trailer with his family, going on trips, hunting, and spending time with his grandkids and adopted grandkids here at Hobble Creek. His favorite food is bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. His favorite season is Fall and he loves going to Yellowstone. When not at school he builds saddles and works with mules. Mr. Littlefield has an amazing sense of humon and uses it everyday. The kids love to tease him in the lunchroom and he teases them right back. He works hard all year, even during the summer, to make our school look great and make sure it is in good repair. Make sure you let him know you appreciate all he has done and continues to do for our school.

Mrs. Ribble's Kindergarten Class Reading In The Dark!

Submitted by liz.porter on

Mrs. Ribble morning kindergarten class was caught reading in the dark this morning. Well, they had flashlights and were loving every minute of it as part of our month long read-a-thon. Every Friday has a different theme. March 10th is feather pillow Friday, so bring a pillow. No school March 17th, March 24th is book swap Friday. Bring an old book you no longer read and students will swap books with each other so everyone has a new book to read and take home.

Keep up the great reading students

Mr. Josh Water 2.09 MB

We have outstanding teachers and technicians at Hobble Creek. This week the spotlight is on three of them, Ms. Tina Wilkinson & Mrs. Sharla Bohl in resource and Mr. Josh Waters in the preschool. Here are some fun facts about them:

Ms Wilkinson loves the color red and the book Chasing Redbird. She doesn't have a favorite sport! She does have a favorite candy, anything chocolate, loves to travel, go on cruises and go to disneyland and she loves telling jokes. Mrs. Bohl also likes the color red, the book To Kill a Mockingbird, and travel with her husband on their motocycle. She loves cheesecake, to read, crochet and garden and go on road trips on her motorcycle. She loves the beach, spending time with grandkids, and working with the students at Hobble Creek. It is a very rewarding job and she loves teaching. Mr. Winters is awesome in the preschool and will be missed as he moves on to new adventures. He loves the color blue, the Harry Potter books and soccer. He loves chocolate lava cake, french baguettes and organizing. He travels and enjoys different cultures, especially Brazil. He will pilot a helicopter one day and wishes he had enough money to travel the world.

Thank you to these wonderful gems here at Hobble Creek that help make our school one of the best in the district.

Cat in the hat read-a-thon 19.45 KB

Parents, don't be alarmed if something very strange begins to happen in your home this month....
The Hobble Creek Elementary read-a-thon has just begun for the month of March. Hobble Creek students know how to really read a lot of minutes and there are chances to win prizes. Here are a few of the details:*Teachers will send home several reading slips each week so that students can fill them in as they read.*Students are welcome to read more than their daily allotment, but all must have a parent's signature.* Students are encouraged and welcome to read on the weekends, but it's not required.*  The reading requirement is either 20 minutes (k-3) or 30 minutes (4-6).*  Students are welcome to put their reading slips into their designated boxes by the office if they choose or take to their classrooms.*  The Friday fun activity is for EVERYONE.  This activity is to help promote the love of reading. Please send a flashlight for your student to read with this Friday, the 10th bring a pillow to read with, and the 24th bring a book to swap with another student that you no longer want or need.*  We are going to give out 2 prizes each Tuesday and Thursday to keep the excitement of reading going all month long. Our first 2 winners were announced today!*  The final assembly will be as usual (lots of fun, prizes, and teachers shooting hoops), but we will be giving out reading bucks that they can use to buy a book from Mr. Johnson and he will triple their winnings for books for their class.  We are hoping the Cat in the Hat will make an appearance.  Happy reading everyone!
